About My Location

Why this exists

mylocationapp.com is the front desk for the My Location app and the small family of sites built around it. We made it a hub on purpose: rather than cram every location task onto one bloated page, we gave each job its own dedicated home and kept this one focused on two things — handing you the Android app and pointing you to the right sister site. The web tools that remain here are the leftovers nobody else wanted to duplicate, like network lookups and map-file conversion, so they have a clear home of their own.

How it works

Every page is a static file served from Cloudflare’s global edge, so it loads fast anywhere. The tools run entirely in your browser. The only server touch is a tiny edge function that reads your public IP and a thin, cached proxy for geocoding and elevation — nothing about you is stored.

Our data sources

IP geolocation comes from Cloudflare’s edge network (request.cf). Elevation comes from Open-Meteo (SRTM-based digital elevation models). Geocoding comes from OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service. All coordinates use the WGS84 datum. We name our sources because honesty about accuracy is the point — IP location is approximate, and we always say so.
