What is my location?

Your location is where you are on Earth, expressed as a latitude and longitude. This page estimates it two ways: instantly from your IP address (accurate to your city, with no permission needed) and, if you allow it, precisely from your device’s GPS (accurate to a few meters). Both are shown above with a map and one-tap copy.

IP location vs GPS location — which is more accurate?

IP-based location is derived from your internet provider’s network and is approximate — it usually places you in the right city but not the right street, and it can be off if you use a VPN. GPS location comes from your device’s sensors and is far more accurate, but it requires your permission and works best outdoors. We lead with the IP estimate so you always see something instantly, then let you upgrade to GPS on demand.

How to find your location

  1. Read the instant estimate. Your IP and approximate city appear at the top automatically.
  2. Tap “Use precise location”. Allow the browser prompt to get exact GPS coordinates, accuracy and address.
  3. Copy or share. Copy your coordinates in decimal degrees or DMS, or share a map link — then convert or measure with the tools above.

Frequently asked questions

What is my IP address?

Your IP address is the public network address your internet provider assigns to your connection. We read it at the edge and show it at the top of this page. See the What is my IP tool for full details including ISP and ASN.

What is my current location?

We first estimate your location from your IP address (city-level, no permission needed). Tap “Use precise location” to get your exact GPS coordinates, accuracy and address from your device. See My location.

Is my location stored?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your precise GPS location never leaves your device, and we don’t keep logs of it. The only server touch is reading your public IP at the edge.

How accurate is this?

IP-based location is approximate — typically correct to the city (about 50–75% of the time), not your street. Precise GPS, after you allow it, is usually accurate to a few meters outdoors.

Do I need to allow location access?

No. The IP-based estimate works with no prompt. Allowing location access only upgrades the result to precise GPS coordinates, an address and elevation.
